Pre-Halloween fun

Just as we did last year, this year Jason and I are taking full advantage of the numerous pre-Halloween activities planned by Stanford and by our twins group. Last weekend we gave the girls' costumes a test run at a Stanford pumpkin patch and yesterday we headed out for the big twins-group party and parade (picture at the top is of Karen, Meha, Jason, and Claire).

As you can probably tell, Jason and I are relishing our current (and very fleeting) power to dress the girls up any way we want, before they develop their own strong preferences. The girls' love of hats really worked with our costume choice: the famous droid pair from Star Wars C3PO (Claire) and R2D2 (Nina).

The second best part of this choice (after the sheer geeky-cuteness of the girls in costumes) was that the girls ended up role-playing the parts pretty successfully. Claire's stride was very mechanical and in the big group of people she stayed close to us, preferring the safe embrace of her parents to the scary world around her. Nina, on the other hand (and in a very R2D2-like fashion) scurried away from us as quickly as she could and just started wandering about the park. Here's a small cut of Nina's exploratory trek.
