Fun with solids

The first month of solid foods has been a fun and messy experience. Both girls have similar food preferences (perhaps not surprisingly) and are generally tolerant of new foods. The love cereals (which we mix with formula), vegetables, and most fruit. They enjoy fruit and vegetables equally (slight preference for veggies I think) and seem to have a special love for sweet potatoes and green beans. The funniest reaction to food so far was to peaches--they bunched up their noses and winced, as if sucking on lemons. They've had this reaction to several of the more sour fruits, but have gotten used to the flavors over the past few weeks.

They love playing with the spoons as well (demonstrated by Claire above), though I think we've got a while to go before they can use these skills to feed themselves.

The girls have solids twice per day now, and (for the most part), manage to get more of the food in them than on them. There are exceptional days however, when a bebe (Nina in the picture below) sneezes or blows raspberries into the spoon of food, spreading it everywhere.
