We just had our 18 week ultrasound which included detailed anatomy scans. The doctor measured various baby bones and organs and was able to see clearly that both babies are girls. They both looked very healthy, everything's in the right place and their growth is very good. Jason took a few short videos and I posted them below with little intros. Since we're now sure about the gender, we can also share their names with you :)
Bebe A, weighing in around 11oz (338 grams) is Claire Helene and Bebe B, weighing in around 9oz (295 grams) is Nina Marie. We chose Nina and Claire because we really liked the names--no particular significance. Helene is after my maternal grandmother and Marie is the French-ization (hey, it's a word now!) of Mary, the name of both of Jason's grandmothers.
Now for the videos! I'm posting a bunch, but I'll add some intro text so you can decide if it's worth watching--don't worry each is less than 30 seconds or so long.
Video 1. Claire (bebe A): If you look closely, the first thing you can see is her face, looking straight on. (Yes bebes do look a bit like aliens at this stage, but cute aliens nonetheless). You can see her open and close her mouth and it finishes with a full shot of her head and spine.
Video 2. Claire: Finishes where video 1 left off. You can see her torso and head and when they flip the camera, you can see her arching up in what looks like a "sun salutation" yoga pose.
Video 3. Claire: This is just an anatomy shot (don't expect any cuteness here), but I think it's cool, so I'm posting it. This is a shot and a side-by-side of Claire's heart. You can see it beating and can see all four chambers.
Video 4. Nina (bebe B): It starts out with a good view of an arm/hand and later, you can see her head and spine (and heart).
Video 5. Nina: Ok, this is the shot that will get me in trouble when she's older. Very akin to those embarrassing naked baby pictures mothers love to bring out at inappropriate times, I give you the evidence that Nina's a girl. (Though this is pretty hard to see and probably requires a few years at the ultrasound-training academy.)
Video 6. The grand tour: Starts with Claire and then pans up to see Nina.

I am so excited. Can't wait to meet them. Love you both Grandma Karen
Congrats on the baby girls! They look healthy and thriving. I miss those ultrasounds - I'll have to live vicariously through you guys since you certainly have plenty, haha! Miss you, kiss the bebe belly for me (or, um, have Jason do it, unless you've taken up contortion as a hobby) and take care of yourself. Love, Christine
Hello Claire Helene and Nina Marie!
Bravo Jason for not following in the Woertink men footsteps (even though I am pretty sure that feet were not involved in the process, hee!hee)
Julia, I want to point out that Mamie's mother, your French great grandmother was named Marie.
I am very excited that you 2 little blue aliens are girls!
Keep swimming and growing, darlings Claire and Nina and, to avoid further embarrassment, keep your legs crossed!
First,we would like to wish you a Happy Birthday Julia !
Nice to meet my "grandes, grandes, grandes cousines" with such wonderful names !
Claire is also my daughter's name, Helene my "grande tante" alias Nana's mother and Marie was also in the family as Nana said previously.
Thanks to Jason for bringing us videos in live, better than a concert !!!
Much love to you from Claire & Elodie as well,
Kisses,Armelle

I think I need a little time at Unltrasound Academy. But they are awesome and you two are awesome too!! Love the names, can't wait to saee that belly in person soon!! Kisses to all 4 of you...
What a thrill this was to watch those beautiful baby girls on video so early on in their little life. Thank you, Jason, for sharing this with all of us! I so appreciate the gift of close observation of their development in their protected little nest. Every time I look at these photos or videos it tells me all is well with the world that day.
Love,
Tante Colette from Bethany Beach, DE
Thank you all for the kind words. It seems "Marie" has a double and triple layer of significance, bridging both families....lucky little girl!
Congratulations!, says Cathy Desnoyers. "Keep up the good work! I told you when you were here that it was a girl, though I thought it was only one!"
Their grandfather Opa has some trouble telling the girls apart. (And not just from each other!)
Are you going to be able to keep track of who is who through til when they are born? --Gwen
Yeay! Congrats, guys! Girls...and I love the names you chose!!!
Gwen--yes, we do plan on keeping track of who's who. I expect it to be pretty easy because bebe A (the lower one) has been on the left (and lowest) since the start and is extremely likely to be born first. We will give the names out alphabetically--first bebe out's going to be Claire :)
